Cerebral Palsy Care
IAN Institute of Rehabilitation and Research:
IAN Institute of Rehabilitation & Research (IANIRR) has a dedicated Department of Cerebral Palsy Care that provides comprehensive rehabilitation services to children and adults with cerebral palsy (CP). CP is a non-progressive condition that affects a child’s ability to move and control their muscles. It is caused by damage to the developing brain, either before, during, or after birth.
IANIRR’s Cerebral Palsy Care Approach
IANIRR’s approach to cerebral palsy care is centered on providing individualized, family-centered care that addresses the specific needs of each individual with CP. Their team of experienced professionals, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and psychologists, works collaboratively to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that targets the child’s motor, cognitive, communication, and social-emotional development.
Services Offered by IANIRR’s Cerebral Palsy Care Department
Physiotherapy: IANIRR’s physiotherapists provide specialized care to help children with CP improve their gross motor skills, fine motor skills, balance, coordination, and strength. They use a variety of techniques, including therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, and gait training, to help children achieve their maximum functional mobility.
Occupational Therapy: IANIRR’s occupational therapists work with children with CP to develop the skills necessary for daily living activities, such as self-care, dressing, eating, and using utensils. They also assess and recommend appropriate assistive devices to help children increase their independence and participation in everyday activities.
Speech-Language Pathology: IANIRR’s speech-language pathologists evaluate and treat individuals with CP who have communication difficulties, such as speech impairments, language delays, and feeding challenges. They provide individualized therapy to help children improve their communication skills and develop effective strategies for expressing their needs and wants.
Psychology: IANIRR’s psychologists provide psychological support to children with CP and their families. They assess and address emotional, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges, helping children develop coping mechanisms, build self-esteem, and enhance their overall well-being.
